With the creation of the Air Force, people started getting in jurisdictional pissing contests. I don't know about the full development process in places overseas, but I know that the advent of armed helicopters was hampered in the US by the Key West agreement following WWII. The first use of helocopters in war was in Korea. What do they care if marshland or water is inbetween. At least from one province to one several hundred miles away. I keep wondering why they are hampered by terrain when the things fly.

Does anyone know the design concept they are intended to show in the game? I don't have a clue. Once the troops land on marshland, that's a different story, or is it? I can see them having a speed of 30-40 mph unhampered by terrain when they fly in friendly territory. They fly (ferry) troops, then land the troops to fight. The games seems undecided on how to use them.

They can pretty much pinpoint drop infantry where it needs to be dropped (landed). Still, with a speed of 14, compared to a tank's 10, something seems wrong. Obviously a long way from Vietnam techniques. I don't have much info on how helicopters were used in WW2.
